GST Registration: Documents Checklist for 2026

By KCCA Team · 20 August 2026 · 1 min read

Getting your documents ready before you start a GST registration application saves real time — most delays happen because an application gets stuck waiting on a missing document, not because of the process itself.

At minimum, keep these ready: PAN card of the business or proprietor, proof of business address (electricity bill, rent agreement, or NOC), a cancelled cheque or recent bank statement, and identity/address proof for every proprietor, partner, or director involved.

If you are registering voluntarily — below the mandatory turnover threshold — the document list is the same. The main reason businesses register voluntarily is to claim input tax credit and to be able to trade with GST-registered buyers who require it.

Once your documents are in order, the actual filing typically takes a few working days, with the registration certificate following after department verification.
